Weekly Challenge - Week of May 25, 2009

Third week's the charm! Not that our previous entries haven't been charming. In fact, they've been resoundingly successful. Let's see what fantastic things people can come up with for this set of prompts! As before, we're using a three word prompt that you're encouraged to take in whatever direction your imagination wants to go.

This is NOT a competition. There are no winners or losers. This is a chance for anyone who wants to stretch their staging capabilities and try out some different scenes. It's meant to be a fun, creative exercise.

Here are the very few challenge rules we've come up with:

1. Maximum of 10 Pictures – Yes, I know it's tough, but the idea is to get the story of the scene across with a limited number of images and no words.

2. Use At Least Two of the Prompt Words – While we'd prefer you use all three, imagination is a fickle thing and if your idea can only work in two of the words, that's fine. But we at least want to see two of them.

3. Pictures Only – This is an exercise in storytelling through pictures. Try and convey what's happening without falling back on words to carry the action. You're welcome to include some text at the end to explain what you were going for, but let the pictures speak for themselves.

4. Post In Your LJ – Because pictures can be rather large, we're asking people to post their responses in their own LJ accounts and provide a link back here as a reply to this thread. Also, please do not friends lock your response.

5. Provide a Warning for Mature Images – If the scene you've put together would require an R rating or would be considered NSFW (not safe for work), please put a warning with your link so people are aware of what they're going to be seeing.

At the end of the week (Saturday or Sunday) we'll gather all the links to the responses and post them in an end-of-the-week post to show them off for everyone to see.

If anyone has questions, please feel free to ask. We're open to suggestions on how to improve and make this even more fun for everyone involved.

Ah, the Brokes. :) They've worked well for these so far. I liked this one quite a bit. The haunting and the explanation for the last pregnancy was intriguing. :)

That was an interesting one. I liked the shot of the girl on the bathroom floor. Sometimes everyone needs a fresh start. :)

I'm not 100% sure what's happening, but I really liked the last couple of pictures with him holding her.

Yeah, well, I was a bit worried it wouldn't be clear enough. The idea was of being haunted by memories of an old life (as opposite to the kind of ghost haunting we're used to in the game) and how those memories are slipping into her new life.
However, if I have to explain... guess I'll just have to try harder next time.

Thanks for the comment on the last pictures. These one were fricking hard to get, especially since I knew exactly what I wanted.

I should have been packing today, Oh Well!

Here is mine

That was pretty cool, Circe. I think it was easy to follow. Poor wee babe.

That was nicely done. I liked the pic of him comforting her ghost.

Thanks. I really didn't know how to do that bit - and his arm was really annoying my, since she was all see through, and everything =P

I really like the effect you used to indicate the past in some of your pictures. I was a little confused on what the sacrifice was for the Reaper, but the pictures were well done.

I was afraid that's where I'd lose people. It's a Reaper Child, unfortunately the mother's genetics stomped roughshod over Grim's.

A bit late I know but here's my entry: http://fairyindia.livejournal.com/2490.html

I'm definitely more pleased with the outcome this week because I downloaded the Freetime Animation box to use :)

I finally have mine done, too: http://morecaffeine.livejournal.com/18011.html

This was a very challenging set of prompts, I can't wait to see next week's.
